Oktopus

Monday, January 25, 2027 - 7:30 p.m.

Celebrating 15 years and the release of Brahms, Balkans & Bagels, Oktopus presents a thrilling concert that dives into the folk traditions that inspired classical giants. In a virtuosic and deeply moving performance, the ensemble seamlessly blends classical music with Eastern European folk, revealing how Hungarian melodies shaped Brahms and Liszt, how Enescu’s Romania pulses through his works, and how klezmer echoes in Mahler’s symphonies.

A decorated force on Canada’s world‑music scene, Oktopus has played over 300 shows across the globe. Rooted in klezmer yet boldly infused with classical, Québécois, jazz, and Balkan influences, their eight musicians deliver a performance that’s festive, lively, melancholic, and profound—complete with humor, storytelling, and irresistible charm.

The Arrogant Worms

The Arrogant Worms have spent over three decades poking fun at a big, dumb world - and audiences can’t get enough. Their songs have been heard on the radio, online, and even in outer space aboard the space shuttle Endeavour. Formed at Queen’s University in 1991, the trio - Chris Patterson, Mike McCormick, and Trevor Strong - quickly evolved from campus cabaret to a touring comedy-music phenomenon.

They’ve crisscrossed Canada (and parts of the world), released 14 albums including their latest, Canadian Famous, and collaborated with multi‑instrumentalist Aleksi Campagne - all fueled by a devoted, occasionally feverish fanbase. Their iconic hit The Last Saskatchewan Pirate has been covered by Captain Tractor, Brad Johner, Amy Nelson, and The Longest Johns, cementing its place in prairie lore.

Always ahead of the curve, the Worms even sparked a recent debate when pop artist Chappell Roan name‑dropped “Saskatchewan” in her latest single. The verdict on the greatest Saskatchewan song? The Worms landed at number three - an outcome so perfectly, hilariously Canadian.

The Johner Brothers

Saturday, April 10, 2027 - 7:30 p.m.

In 1991, The Johner Brothers exploded onto the Canadian country scene, earning the CCMA’s Duo of the Year and launching a wave of awards and hit singles. After being crowned Entertainer of the Decade and releasing 26 charting singles across six albums, Ken stepped away from music in 2002 while Brad continued with a hugely successful solo career - recording six acclaimed albums and winning Male Artist of the Year.

Now, after twenty years, the Johner Brothers are back. With Brad’s sons joining the band, their live show feels both fresh and familiar - polished, heartfelt, and delivered with the professionalism and warmth fans have always loved. They’re gearing up for a busy year across western Canada, ready to remind audiences why they became one of the country’s most celebrated duos.
